Reader’s Question:

I just want to know if I can get an sr22 for the vehicle and keep my current policy or do I have to cancel my insurance? Is it lower for car insurance for married people?

Theresa

Good question Theresa.

You can’t purchase a separate car insurance policy for an SR-22 if you have an auto insurance policy already. You will going to have to cancel your current insurance policy if your insurance provider does not offer an SR-22 and buy an insurance policy with an insurance provider that does.

Generally, regular auto insurance provider tends to be less expensive for couples that are married. This may not always be the case though if you as an individual had a good clean driving record but your spouse has a bad driving history. Your insurance rates rates may still be higher because the vehicle record of the other person on your insurance policy with you.

Goodluck!
