Reader’s Question:
I still have a suspended license in NV but I want to apply for license in Texas. What shall I do?
Mitch
Good question Mitch.
According to the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicle, all the states in the US have access to the National Drivers Register (NDR). The NDR is a database of all the drivers with driving problems. Problem drivers are those with convictions for serious traffic violations or those with suspended license or revoked license.
Also the NV Department of Motor Vehicles states that states may not provide a driver license to an individual if there is an active suspension or revocation in any other state. therefore if you have a suspended license in Nevada and you have yet to reinstate your license in Nevada then you wont be able to receive license in the state of Texas.
you would need to apply for a TX driver’s license in the Texas department of Public Safety. According to their site, those who has their license is suspended in driving status in another state not eligible for the issuance of a TX driver’s license. the individual must first get a clear status of driving record from their former state before they can acquire Texas driver’s license.
You will need to reinstate your Nevada driving privileges , and any issues cleared up, before you will be allowed to get a full license from another state.
Goodluck!
