Reader’s Question:
We are in Kentucky right now since my husband is in military but I still have the Texas license. I got a speeding ticket and I just want to know if I can enroll to any traffic school to remove the ticket? please help.

Thank you for asking Rina.
Most of the states would require you to have an in-state license to be able to take a defensive driving course so that a ticket will not be added to your driving history or points will not be assigned on the violation. States vary on their laws, so you may verify with Kentucky and Texas states to check what the regulations are in this kind of situation.
According to the Kentucky Driver Point System, 16 mph over the speed limit in Kentucky is considered a a 6 point offense.
Kentucky and Texas are members of the Drivers License Compact so that means as members of this compact agreement the departments of motor vehicles will share information regarding moving violations and notify the state in which a an individual is licensed of traffic violation.
The Texas Department of Public Safety states that they will place out of state offenses onto your Texas driving record. The points system in Texas states that it is 2 points for a traffic violation conviction in Texas or that in a different state. On the driver record , the points will remain for a period of three years from the date conviction.
Goodluck!
