Reader’s Question:
what will happen if I cancel the sr22 before the two year period? I live in Dallas.
Dexter
Good question Dexter.
Texas provides Safety Responsibility Law or Evidence of Financial Responsibility Law for motorist whose driver license or driving privilege has been revoked or suspended.
If you want to reinstate your driver’s license or driving privileges, an original pink copy of the sr22 insurance needs to be filed and maintained with the Department Of Motor Vehicle. The mandatory period is two years from the date of the conviction.
You are also required to pay the reinstatement fee with the sr22. If you cancel the sr22 within the two year period and the Department receives notice from the insurance provider that sr22 has been terminated, suspension action will be taken.
Goodluck!
