Reader’s Question:
Hi. I found a job and recently moved to Lubbock, Texas. My insurance has just expired. Can somebody please tell me where I can get the best car insurance rates and premium coverage for my car?
Diedre
Lubbock, TX
Well, Diedre, we welcome you to Lubbock, Texas, the home of the Texas Tech University, the Warren and Myrta Bacon House, the Cactus Theater and the birth place of Buddy Holly. You will definitely love your new life here in this beautiful city. You probably have not explored this place yet because you apparently are not aware that Lubbock is a small city but you will be very surprised to find that it offers numerous products and services that cater to your different needs. We have a handful of car insurance providers within the city, as well as some more in the neighboring cities. As a matter of fact, there’s one along 82nd Street, another in 20th Street, and I believe there’s one near the University and one along 34th Street. I have already tried some of them through the years and most of them give very reasonable and attractive packages. I’d like to believe that over here, we have lower rates when compared with the other states in the country.
You may also check the pages, they are most probably listed, too, so finding them won’t be very difficult for you. Compare the packages first to see what suits you perfectly, okay? Hope you find it.

Teen Non Owners Auto Insurance Laredo Texas TX
Filed under: Driving without a licsense, SR22 Texas, Texas Non Owner insurance
Reader’s Question:
My daughter does not own a vehicle, do I still have to add her to my car insurance policy in Laredo, Texas?
Amanda
Laredo TX
Once your daughter becomes a licensed driver most insurance providers will require you to add her on your car insurance policy since she will likely have access to your car and therefore be required for coverage.
According to the Texas Department of Insurance you can remove your teen driver from your car insurance policy by buying a non-owner policy. This however is usually not a good idea since a non-owner policy just provides additional liability insurance when operating a a non-owned automobile. If your teen daughter gets into an accident while operating your automobile, neither your car insurance policy nor the non-owner policy will pay for your automobile’s damage. You might also be financially unprotected if held responsible for an accident caused by your minor teen daughter. So, if the non-owner policy is rated properly, your teen’s liability insurance might more expensive than if she was on your car insurance policy in Laredo Texas.

State laws and city ordinances set different requirements for towing cars. Reader’s Question:
My son borrowed my car and drove in Dallas, TX. He went through a check point where law enforcement officer were checking insurance. He presented my insurance card and was told by the law enforcement officer that he could be given a ticket for driving without insurance because his name was not actually on the insurance card. This is really confusing. He borrowed my vehicle with permission and my car was insured. The police officer told him that they would give him a ticket for no insurance if they stopped him again. Can you please explain that to me? People borrow vehicle that are properly insured. They can be given a ticket for driving without insurance if their name is not on the card? Is this correct?
Amy
Dallas, TX
I would suggest that you should check the Texas Department of Public Safety to verify for certain if the police officer could give citation on your son for driving without insurance in this kind of situation because he showed your insurance card instead of one that had her name on it or not. If may be that the police officer could if he was being a stickler for the letter of the law but likely if your son came to court and showed your proof of insurance for the car and then whatever auto insurance he has in his own name that the ticket could be dismissed.
You are correct that people permit others to borrow their cars all the time and usually they show the car owner’s insurance card, but again I would advise you to verify with the TX DPS to check if a car driver must also carry their insurance card on them when driving another person’s car.
Austin Texas Car Insurance
Reader’s Question:
If you get stopped in Austin, Texas, does every law enforcement officer have immediate access to insurance records? How do they check if you have car insurance? Will they be able to know immediately? Is it by the person or the vehicle?
Josh
Austin, TX
The State of Texas in 2008 implemented a new technology program that permits law enforcement officers and designated state users to immediately verify if an individual has auto insurance. This new TX Financial Responsibility Verification Program (FRVP) was developed by the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI), and was a joint project mandated by the Texas Legislature and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), and the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR).
The purpose of the program is to reduce the number of uninsured drivers in Texas by stopping those that use fraudulent or false insurance cards or those that dropped coverage after getting their valid car insurance card. This new verification system gives police officers and other state users real-time immediate access to car insurance information on a given car and/or motorist at their fingertips.
Texas SR22insurance
Reader question:
Why is Texas SR22insurance necessary?
Becka
Excellent question, Becka.
When you’ve already spent a few weeks or a couple of months without driving because of having a suspended license–or even driving illegally on that license and not getting caught–a few years might not seem like a long time, especially when you consider the through the roof rates of Texas SR22insurance. However, what may only be an inconvenience for a brief period of time can morph into one of the most frustrating experiences you have, especially if you live in an area of Texas–that is, most of it–without access to decent public transportation.
Texas SR22insurance is necessary, on your end, because unless you live within the small areas within downtown of the state’s bigger cities, you will have a hard time getting around for several years without a car. Even if you managed to driver on a suspended license without getting caught for a month or so, that luck will not last for two years.
From he Texas DPS perspective, Texas SR22insurance is necessary because they need to be able to trust that you will remai insured after you show them proof of insurance to get your license reinstated. This is why the SR22 allows them to keep the medium of communication open with your car insurance company, so that they will know when you cancel.

Q: Does having bad credit make my Abilene SR22 car insurance rates go up, and how do I fix it if it does?
A: A bad credit history puts you in a demographic of drivers who file claims more frequently than the rest of people who have a good credit history, and since that adds more risk onto your already very risky Abilene SR22 policy, then you’re likely to have some rates which are through the roof at first and you’ll also probably have trouble getting insured at all.
If you want to have cheaper Abilene SR22 rates, then you need to work on improving your credit history. You will have to do three things to do this: first, in order to get rid of your bad credit, you will have to get any inaccurate items removed from your credit report, and then you will have to pay off what remains; then, you will have to start building good credit, perhaps by applying for a credit card, spending a small amount, and then paying it all off every month.
When you begin paying off your debt to improve your Abilene SR22 rating, it’s important to start paying off the debts which have the highest amount of interest on them so they don’t keep getting bigger.
Abilene SR22

Q: What is Abilene SR22 car insurance?
A: In the state of Texas, Abilene SR22 car insurance is filed after you have your license suspended for one reason or another–usually for something like driving under the influence or for getting into a car accident while failing to maintain financial responsibility (i.e. car insurance). If you want to get your driver’s license back, you will have to file proof of insurance with the DPS.
Abilene SR22 is usually more expensive than other kinds of car insurance, and you are required to file it for two years after the date of your license suspension. Although after two years you will no longer need to file the SR22, it will still stay on your driving record for three years more, and you will experience higher pricing because of this.
If you do not file your Abilene SR22, or fail to pay, then instead an SR26 of cancellation will be filed, and when this is received your license will once more be suspended. In order to get it back, you must again get SR22 insurance as well as pay other associated fines.
